Education for all, occupational choice and business formation in Africa
Examining the success of school expenditure in terms of economic payoff
Despite the fact that many more children live within reach of a school in Africa today, nearly one third still do not finish primary school and more than half do not finish secondary school. By quantifying the impact of major school construction and educational policies across many post-independence African countries, this study sheds light on the market frictions affecting school expansion and highlights when greater educational expenditures have the largest economic payoff.
