Refugees of the Mediterranean
The political economy of displacement and refugee flows
Globally, increasing national and international conflicts and environmental issues are causing large-scale population movements, disrupting the social organisation and economies of many countries in their wake. By assessing the consequences of the massive refugee influx that Greece experienced in the mid-1920s, this research sheds light on the education, entrepreneurship and occupational choices regarding refugee resettlement and on the impact of the resettlement on voting and conflict during the Greek civil war. The study will help inform key policy issues in the political economy of displacement and refugee flows.
